There’s a strong vibration circulating in the area of Roxbury, MA. Roxbury being the home of Boston’s Black history through various aspects from politics to music. Another thing about the beloved neighborhood of Roxbury is the strong ties, love and light, community, unity. Forever uplifting the definition of Black pride through the manifestations of revolution for the better cause of Black humanity within the city.

In case you haven’t heard yet, there’s a brother that goes by the name of Milkshaw Benedict. With a name like that you get a sense of sophistication, poised and renaissance like. Milkshaw Benedict is the piece that put “HOPE” in capital letters and shines over the city of Boston and over the neighborhood of Roxbury. This brother has an impeccable pen when it comes to the duo dynamic of lyricism and flow, also whoever produces these beats deserve a grammy as well.

With Milkshaw Benedict debuting his first album back in 2019, dedicating the vibes to “Summer Funk” it remained a hit leaving the block party DJ’s no choice but the spin his records. His tendencies to flow with his pen on boom bap, contemporary soul trap beats leaves your finger off the next button as it captivates your listening senses. Unraveling an on beat head bop and a little feet movement as you vibrate with the sounds of MILK. He shows how much he’s got to give within all of his songs, with a strong grip on his talent - dreaming is only now a level of manifestation as he balances his teaching career with his love for music. Dedication and hardwork is taking him places, you just have to tap in.

Fast-forward to 2021, “MIXTAPE MILK” comes out into the streets of Roxbury. March 5th being the release date of his second album hosted by Brocktons very own BigTunez The DJ with 17 songs (44 minutes) including 2 special features. A talented uprising star Roxbury native in Najee Janey and Brockton’s very own blazing artist from the Van Buren Records group Saint Lyor. Releasing as a Hip Hop/Rap genre album, there’s a been series of soul funk, boom bap influenced songs that really do damage (bass knocking, head bopping). Songs like “We out this B****” and “Very On Brand” electrify your vibrations with instant joy and excitement. Imagine what it would be like to see him perform these songs live- in person.
